The following statement was made by Mr. Kader Benamara on the occasion of a film premiere which took place in Vienna on December 20, 2015. The venue was the VHS Urania, a public educational institute and a movie theater in Vienna, Austria. The event consisted in the projection of a film titled “ Fadhma n'Soumer” - and was organized jointly by the Austro-Algerian Society and the VHS Wiener Urania. The film director, Mr. Belkacem Hadjadj, was present as well as a number of personalities.
Fadhma n'Soumer , the subject of the film, was a remarkable heroine of the Algerian resistance during the first years of the most brutal and repressive French colonial invasion of Algeria. She was seen as the personification of the struggle. Born in the Kabylie region, she manifested from her early childhood a rebellious and independent spirit, an attitude unheard from and unexpected from a young woman in the early 19th century Algeria....
